YouTube reveals the music videos Aussies watched most in 2017

In case you’ve enjoyed a gap year in war torn Bosnia, you’d already know that Ed Sheeran is fairly damn popular in Australia.

Not only was he the most streamed artist on Spotify, the highest-selling artist of the year, and responsible for flooding the singles charts with his entire album, thus ruining it forever — his TLC-plundering hit ‘Shape Of You’ was also the most-watched music video on YouTube. And that’s where we watch most of our videos!

As if to slam his dominance into our faces further, the official lyric video for ‘Shape Of You’ was the ninth most-watched video.

The rest of the chart is fairly representative of what our end-of-year singles chart will look like. Khaled, Bruno, Despacito, Taylor – you remember.

Of course, the real danger with these lists being compiled this early is that it discounts the entire first month of summer, which means the likes of ‘Kokomo’, ‘The Boys of Summer’ and ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ will be sorely underrepresented.

Top ten below.

  1. Ed Sheeran – Shape of You [Official Video]
  2. DJ Khaled – I’m the One ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne
  3. Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like [Official Video]
  4. Luis Fonsi – Despacito ft. Daddy Yankee
  5. The Chainsmokers & Coldplay – Something Just Like This (Lyric)
  6. Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do
  7. Kendrick Lamar – HUMBLE.
  8. DJ Khaled – Wild Thoughts ft. Rihanna, Bryson Tiller
  9. Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You [Official Lyric Video]
  10. Jason Derulo – Swalla (feat. Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign) (Official Music Video)
