Today is the final day you can enrol to vote, to ensure you help make it obvious to all, that the clear-thinking, morally-centred people in Australia want marriage equality. So get onto that, if you haven’t already.

APRA AMCOS have released an official statement in support of this cause/basic human right. They are among the numerous people in the music industry and beyond who are throwing their weight behind this change being made – it’s important that bodies such as APRA AMCOS make it clear they support this unequivocally, so we applaud them on this.

Read their statement below.

APRA AMCOS wholeheartedly supports marriage equality, and encourages citizens to enrol to vote and to update their address on the electoral role ahead of the marriage equality postal vote.

You can do this at: www.aec.gov.au/enrol

APRA AMCOS supports diversity in the workforce, and recognises the rights of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) employees and over 90,000 members to live and work free of prejudice and discrimination, with all the essential freedoms enjoyed by other members of our organisations and the broader community.

We believe that individual rights and liberties are sacrosanct. They are essential in the creation of a healthy, harmonious and open society. An equitable society, free of discrimination, also allows all employees and members to function at their best. Australia is already a robust democracy, but we support seeing it treat all its citizens equally and with dignity.

Not only is marriage equality the only truly fair option, but it’s also a sound economic option given that a happy workforce is a productive one. To remain competitive, and to attract top talent from around the world, organisations – and nations – must create a fair and respectful environment for all.

APRA AMCOS supports marriage equality, it can soon become a reality. Please enrol to vote.
