Rights to 130 Judas Priest songs are now up for grabs

You can now own a piece of metal history, with a share of royalty rights to 130 Judas Priest tracks going up for sale. The rights to iconic tracks like ‘Breaking The Law’ are now yours to own, following the demise of guitarists KK Downing’s luxury golf resort.

Downing had reportedly invested millions in developing Astbury Hall, an 18 hole, 71-par golf course in the hope of one day attracting the Open Championship.

The business has now fallen into administration, with the 320-acre estate now up for sale for more than $13.5 million. Administrators have blamed “tougher economic times within the wider corporate hospitality market” for the demise, with Downing now facing a subsequent bankruptcy.

Downing’s shares of Judas Priest songs generate around $400,000 per year – administrator Alastair Massey has said investing in the band’s back catalogue would prove a “unique opportunity” for fans of the band.

The guitarist departed from the band in 2011, citing a worsening of relationships amongst members and a dissatisfaction with performance styles for his exit.
