Live Nation is offering $799 golden tickets to over 90 music festivals

Live Nation have unveiled their Festival Passport, a US$799 key to any of Live Nation’s 90+ festivals worldwide. We’re talking all the Lollapalooza festivls, Reading, Leeds, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Parklife, Way Out West, and numerous others.

It’s hard to tell if this is the beginning of something, or the end. This is undoubtedly a great investment if you are a regular festival goer – even attending 5% of the festivals on offer would result in massive savings, but it’s hard not to read this as a worrying sign that Live Nation is going for a cash-grab before many of these collapse, or consolidate.

Or perhaps it’s simply a show of strength, encouraging people to recognise Live Nation’s dominance in the field. Only 1,000 of these tickets are available, which suggests they aren’t in it purely for the money.

Either way, you could plan one hell of a festival holiday if you co-ordinated it well enough, the music-lover’s version of the endless summer.
