The Opportunity

  • Independently apply advanced level clinical expertise, specialised techniques and professional judgement across a variety of caseloads in an acute hospital, rehabilitation, developmental or community setting in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Provide clinical direction and advice to support evidence based clinical decision making and quality patient care by less experienced occupational therapists allocated to the service area.
  • Professionally lead the delivery, and manage the quality of, clinical serviceswithin the music therapy team which provides advanced level clinical advice to health practitioners on a state-wide basis within Queensland Health and those belonging to external government and non-government agencies. This includes leading multi-disciplinary teams in order to deliver effective health services within the CHQHHS.

The Successful Candidate

Clinical Practice

  • Demonstrated advanced level knowledge, skills and expertise in complex, contemporary music therapy clinical practice within the tertiary paediatric population.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced level professional judgement in providing clinical advice and direction regarding evidence based care, professional standards and service development
  • Demonstrated ability to apply evidence-based principles to independently develop solutions to facilitate novel, complex music therapy or multidisciplinary clinical decisions and to initiate or contribute to formal research

Communication

High level communication skills that enable the development of improved service delivery outcomes and effective relationships with staff, patients and other key stakeholders.

Leadership Skills

Demonstrated ability to lead change through quality and service improvement activities and provide clinical supervision of Music Therapists, Music Therapy students and support staff across CHQ HHS
