Fanning, Frenzal, and a little band called The Beatles to storm the ARIA Charts

Fanning, Frenzal, and a little band called The Beatles to storm the ARIA Charts

Two Aussie acts from quite different ends of the musical spectrum will be competing against Ed Sheeran for #1 on next week’s ARIA Albums chart: Byron Bay metalcore band In Hearts Wake, whose fourth studio album Ark will be hoping to debut one spot higher than their 2015 #2 album Skydancer; and Bernard Fanning, who is no stranger to the top end of the ARIA charts.

Fanning has scored 7 number one albums between his solo work and that of Powderfinger, with a further two #2 debuts, for the Powderfinger best of Fingerprints, and Fanning’s 2016 album Civil Dusk. His Brutal Dawn album is a companion piece to Civil Dusk, and Fanning will be hoping to land one place higher this time around. Civil Dusk will also re-enter this week, somewhere in the Top 30. Meanwhile Parables For Wooden Ears sits on the shelves…

In Hearts Wake, Ed, and Bernie will most likely make up the three top spots (in no particular order), with The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band looking set to re-enter the Top 5 off the back of the deluxe re-issue, the fifty-year anniversary, and ‘Lovely Rita’ being a cracker of a song. A pleasing result for these lads from Liverpool – ones to watch, indeed!

Other strong debuts will come from Frenzal Rhomb’s ninth studio album — and first in six years — Hi-Vis High Tea, which should debut in the Top 10, as will Bryson Tiller’s True To Self.

Young country artist Caitlyn Shadbolt should debut within the Top 30 with her debut album Songs On My Sleeve, while Cable Ties and Lil Yachty will debut comfortably in the Top 50.

Finally, the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack will whip back into the Top 20, for reasons we don’t wish to unpack.

The charts are released at 6pm on Saturday nights.
